There’s nothing like a little magic to help heal hurt and touch the heart. That’s exactly what moms and dads who rely on BAND-AID® Brand can count on with the new BAND-AID® Brand MAGIC VISION™ app, featuring Disney’s The Muppets.
“The first time I used one with my son, it was Kermit the Frog, and he really loved it,” says Carmen Nestares, Marketing Director, BAND-AID® Brand. “He asked lots of questions, like where did Kermit come from—and forgot he was hurt. It made me look like a really good mom in his eyes. That’s a good feeling.”
The idea for the app came from a casual conversation between marketers at Disney Consumer Products and Johnson & Johnson Consumer Companies, Inc. about augmented reality, which overlays a created experience over reality via your mobile device’s camera.
Convergence and collaboration ensued. Teams from both companies worked together to develop a one-of-a-kind platform and technology to unlock a special world where the Muppets characters appear on your device. All it takes is a BAND-AID® Brand Adhesive Bandage and the mobile app to turn an iPhone® or iPad® device into a stage. That’s where the fun begins. The app is designed to entertain and make any child forget about a boo-boo, whether singing along to Kermit the Frog’s serenade, striking a pose with Miss Piggy or aiding The Great Gonzo on his daring acts.
“It creates a bonding moment that is playful and caring,” says Carmen. “Have a little laugh, have a little fun, let the magic happen.”
The app also lets users take and store live-action pictures with the Muppets and directly connect to the BAND-AID® Brand Facebook page.
“Life is made up of those little caring moments that, in a child’s eyes, make their mom a great mom,” says Carmen. “To be able to have the brand participate in a moment of hurt and transform it into such a moment of love and happiness is priceless.”
